Preface
The Return: A Book for Frances about Life and Death
There are two sorts of
people for whom I've written this booklet
----- those with no immediate threat of dying but who suffer from
a pervasive fear of death that prevents them from truly living,
and
----- those who believe that their deaths are imminent and who wish
to get their spiritual houses in order and die peacefully, adventurously
and with style.
Much of this booklet
has been written for twenty years or more.
But I've been inhibited by a voice in my head . . .
in psychosynthesis terms. a saboteur subpersonality . . .
who has lectured me that it would be presumptuous to add another
book to the now abundant literature about death and dying, or self-indulgent
to write about my own near-death experience.
However, there have been a few clients and friends to whom I had
told my story before they died. Each felt that hearing it had made
the prospect of an early death much easier for them and all urged
me to "get it into print".
Frances was the first of that group.
